Researchers from Taiwan conducted a retrospective study in which examined the practice of prescribing antibiotics for acute otitis media (AOM), an attempt to identify possible factors that may influence the outcome in AOM. In the study it was included medical records of 400 children with AOM. The dosage regimen of amoxicillin regarded as appropriate clinical guidelines in cases where the drug was used at a dose of 80-90 mg / kg / day. The results of this study demonstrated that the use of high drug form according to the current clinical guidelines outperforms conventional dosing regimens for patients weighing up to 20 kg and bilateral otitis
